The Bahamas are home to a diverse collection of birdlife, with around 325 species recorded in the archipelago. Some of the most unique and iconic birds of the Bahamas include the Bahama Mockingbird, known for its beautiful song and distinctive long tail, and the endemic Bahama Woodstar hummingbird, with its stunning green and purple iridescent plumage. Other notable species include the West Indian Flamingo, the Piping Plover, the Osprey, and the Bahamas Parrot, which is found only in the Bahamas and is considered an endangered species. Many of these birds can be found in the wetlands, mangroves, and forests that make up the natural landscape of the Bahamas. The Bahamas National Trust is dedicated to protecting and preserving these important habitats and their inhabitants for future generations to come.
